Installation Matters

Match the Hardware to the Installation

The correct supporting hardware depends on the panel material, mounting-hole shape, lock position and assembly requirements.

01

Mounting in Wood

Anchor Washers use four gripping teeth to help secure a 2-flat cam lock into a round hole drilled into wood.

02

Mounting in Steel

Wonder Washers help adapt a round steel mounting hole for the profile of a 2-flat cam lock.

03

Faster Assembly

Mounting Clips use an over-center design to secure the lock without a conventional mounting nut.

04

Adjusting Lock Position

Spacer Washers can move the lock outward when additional spacing is needed at the front of the panel.

A Round Hole Doesn't Have to Mean a Loose Lock

Cam locks often use a 2-flat body profile that helps keep the cylinder from rotating. Cobra hardware provides options for adapting round 3/4-inch mounting holes to support that lock profile.

The correct hardware depends primarily on whether the mounting surface is wood, steel or another equipment configuration.

Position the Lock Where You Need It

Cobra Spacer Washers are designed to move the cam lock outward from the equipment surface while maintaining a clean appearance around the lock face.

Standard spacer sizes are available, and custom specifications can also be provided for applications requiring a different amount of spacing.

Build the Complete Cam Lock Assembly

Selecting the lock cylinder is only part of the installation. Mounting hardware, spacing and the locking cam all affect how the finished lock fits and operates.

Cobra provides cam locks, locking cams and supporting hardware so the individual components can be selected around the requirements of the equipment.

Selecting Lock Hardware

What Do You Need to Know?

A few basic installation details can help determine which supporting hardware is appropriate.

01 — MATERIAL

Wood or Metal?

The mounting material helps determine whether an Anchor Washer, Wonder Washer or Anchor Plate is appropriate.

02 — HOLE

Mounting Hole

Identify the diameter and shape of the existing mounting hole in the equipment or panel.

03 — POSITION

Lock Depth

Determine whether the cylinder needs additional spacing from the front of the equipment.

04 — ASSEMBLY

Installation Method

Consider whether a traditional mounting nut or a quicker clip-style installation best fits production.
